George P. Nassos is currently Director of the MS in Sustainability Management program and Executive-in-Residence at Driehaus College of Business, DePaul University. In addition, he is principal of George P. Nassos & Associates (www.georgepnassos.com), a consulting company focusing on environmental sustainability and renewable energy. He is also president of Sustainable Energy Systems (www.ses-il.com), marketing new onsite waste-to-energy technologies. He was recently elected to the Founding Circle of the Encyclical Working Group of the Chicago Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church with the mission to implement Ladauto Si, the encyclical by Pope Francis – Our Care for Our Common Home.

For 14 years, he was Industry Associate Professor and the Director of the M.S. in Environmental Management and Sustainability program at Illinois Institute of Technology’s graduate business school until he retired in 2011. This program was ranked one of the top such programs in the world by World Resources Institute and The Aspen Institute. He taught the sustainability capstone course since 1997 and, as a result, has over 350 graduates/disciples preaching environmental and social sustainability worldwide. Research for the capstone course resulted in writing the text book “Practical Sustainability Strategies: How to Gain a Competitive Advantage”, published by John Wiley and Son.

Prior to academia, he worked 15 years for Chemical Waste Management, developing unique treatment and disposal technologies including fuel pellets from non-recyclable cellulosic waste, and 16 years for International Minerals & Chemical Corp. in various managerial positions, the last four years as Managing Director of the company’s German and Dutch subsidiaries.

Nassos earned a B.S. (U. of Illinois – Urbana Champaign), M.S. and Ph.D (Northwestern U.) all in Chemical Engineering and an MBA from Northwestern University.
